Viktor Gulevich, Director of T1 Holding’s Information Security Competence Center, said that in some cases the user should not update the software of their device.

It’s worth avoiding updating software that the manufacturer has stopped supporting. The solution may be unstable and the user will lose the required functionality.

The expert reminded that updates from unreliable sources are not necessary. Although many enthusiasts provide the user with “customized” versions of their operating systems in this way, attackers can also use it.

Gulevich noted that it is up to the owner of the device whether the manufacturer agrees to change the settings and privacy policy. Thus, the amount and frequency of obtaining user data changes.
