The Motorola Edge 40 Pro vs. Edge 30 Ultra, you can only choose one of them. Yes, the choice is difficult, so we help you with this. We compare both cell phones in sections such as screen, performance and battery life to choose the one that best suits your needs.
Of the new family, only the Edge 40 and Edge 40 Pro are currently known, so we will have to wait if the manufacturer decides to release more items in this series, which will definitely include the Edge 40 Ultra. In any case, the duel referred to in the following lines is still interesting.
Design
Perhaps this is the section where the two phones are very similar. The main difference lies in the rear optical module: in Edge 40 Pro, sensors and flash play a big role. The manufacturer’s name, yes, is only on the back of the Edge 30 Ultra, at the bottom.
Otherwise, both have the same matte finish that repels fingerprints, a curved screen – a little more stylized in the case of the Edge 40 Pro – the button layout on the right side, and ports on the base: a SIM card slot, USB-C, and an audio channel.
What we can sum up is that the design of the Edge 40 Pro looks more consistent, as if the screen and body were one. In addition, it is much nicer to the touch, more comfortable, which adds more points in this segment.

Screen

Same size and same resolution for both parts: 6.67 inches and 1080 x 2400 pixels. So when it comes to multimedia, you can expect a tough fight again.
The Edge 40 Pro scores slightly with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection (versus Corning Gorilla Glass 5 in the Edge 30 Ultra), a 165Hz refresh rate (vs. versus one in 125 nits).
When playing back both videos and photos, you can tell that the Edge 40 Pro’s display excels in contrast, accuracy, and colors, but not by much. So, if only one person can buy the Edge 30 Ultra, you won’t have to regret the problem with the screen.

Performance
First, let’s get down to the hard facts: the Edge 40 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor paired with 12GB of RAM. While the Edge 30 Ultra offers Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 as well as 12GB of RAM.
At the time, Qualcomm’s chip for the latter was the best, and the situation is repeated with the one that includes the Edge 40 Pro.
Thus, the latest cell phone can be expected to offer faster response when running applications of all kinds. We tested it with Netflix and in a web browser: the Edge 40 Pro performs better in this type of task, although the difference is minimal, we must admit.
The fact that the mobile phone released this year includes Android 13 also contributes to optimal responsiveness, while the Edge 30 Ultra (2022) was factory-installed with Android 12 (pending update).

Battery

The Edge 30 Ultra has a 4800mAh battery and 125W fast charging (50W wireless). How are these elements of their “big brother”?
The Edge 40 Pro uses a 4600mAh power supply as well as 125W fast charging. The fact is that the wireless connection remains at 15 watts.
Few Edge 30 Ultra take this segment, mainly because of its wireless charging performance. In both cases, on a more or less busy day, it’s almost a fact that they will need to be plugged into electricity to be ready for the next day.
If Motorola releases the Edge 40 Ultra in the near future, it may decide to give its battery more prominent values. For now, there is a winner.

general experience

Taking into account the experience we had with both mobiles, we can say that the one offered by the Edge 40 Pro is slightly higher than the one offered by the Edge 30 Ultra. We like the former for its more stylized and user-friendly design, better color reproduction screen, and smoother response in all types of applications.
In addition, it features Dolby Vision and Dolby Audio certifications (more immersive sound), dust and water resistance (IP68 rating), dual 50MP rear camera and a dedicated 12MP portrait camera (the one selfie camera or 60MP front camera), 256GB storage, 8K video recording, and security features such as Secure Folder and Network Shield. Of course, this is Wi-Fi 7 and 5G.
On the other hand, Edge 30 Ultra stands out for its battery and fast charging, elegant design and responsiveness, which promises to effectively meet the various demands of users.
The rest of its specs include a triple camera setup with a 200MP main sensor and a 60MP selfie camera, Wi-Fi 6E compatibility, 10W reverse charging, and an under-display fingerprint sensor.
At least in Mexico, curiously, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro is 1,000 pesos cheaper than the Edge 30 Ultra: 26,000 pesos versus 30,000 rubles. 27,000 pesos respectively. Is the main sensor of the rear camera of the latter to blame in this situation?
The truth is, if we had to choose just one, it would be the Edge 40 Pro, as we think it offers a more balanced experience on all fronts.
