iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro were announced with the long-awaited USB-C port instead of the Lightning connector. Later, Apple’s new smartphones should still have an option to limit maximum battery charge.

According to 9to5Mac, DDetails about the feature in question were found in the developer version of iOS 17. The functionality is specifically aimed at maintaining battery health.

According to the information obtained, Maximum charge limit feature will be available in the Battery Settings menu in iOS 17. When you disable it, a message appears informing you that the device will “charge to full capacity.”

When enabling the maximum charge limit, a notification will appear stating that the phone’s battery will “only charge around X%.”. This setting can be configured in the Settings app, which will also show when the device was last recharged.

The new feature is similar to “Optimized Battery Charging,” where the iPhone only charges above 80% after being disconnected from the charger. But the difference is that the user can define the battery charge percentage.

It’s worth noting that Android devices like Samsung’s Galaxy series use a similar battery limit system.. In this case, charging lithium-ion batteries to 100% may cause faster wear of the power component.

The iPhone 15's USB-C port also allows for fast file transfers.

Special feature for iPhone 15

According to 9to5Mac, maximum charge limit feature should only be supported on new iPhones with USB-C. The iOS 17 code does not provide information on whether the option can be enabled on iPhone 14 models or earlier models.

This doubt should be clarified at the public launch of iOS 17.. Apple has already confirmed that the new operating system for iPhones will be available on September 18 (Monday).

In this respect, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro will be available in select markets on September 22. In Brazil, the estimate is that the new phones should arrive in stores only in early October.
