People at Huawei in China take security too seriously, so much so that China Telecom is selling Huawei Mate 60 with quantum security. But what does this really mean?
The new Mate 60 Pro can secure voice calls (VoLTE), messages and file transfers. The way it works is that the quantum key distribution algorithm generates a new key before initiating a new secure call, then this key is passed to the recipient so that their phone can decode the call (or message, or file, etc.). Users must first use secure authentication to verify their identity.
Safety is guaranteed not only SIM card Quantum, but also has its own chipset and algorithm, which is a closely guarded secret. The recipient must have similar equipment before placing a call/message/file.
How exactly does quantum security work on the Mate 60?
Quantum security is based on the use of quantum key distribution (QKD), which allows two parties to share a secret key that can be used to encrypt and decrypt messages.
That is: a new key will be generated every time the user requests a call to ensure maximum user privacy.
In practice, when a user decides to perform quantum secret communication, the function first authenticates the user. The system will then ask the user interface to conduct this encrypted conversation. It can automatically switch to mobile network mode.
