If my budget hadn’t been so big, I wouldn’t have hesitated: my choice would have been among these three affordable cell phones that ended up on my test desk, among many others. I’m talking about the colorful OPPO Reno 10 5G, the elegant Moto G84 5G and the compact Honor Magic 50 Lite. Without further ado, let’s take a look at them.

OPPO Reno 10 5G

When did I try this? In August 2023, I had the opportunity to unbox the Reno 10 5G, whose rear camera immediately caught my attention.

Why did I like it? Its exterior design is one of the most noteworthy aspects of any of its versions, in addition to the fact that the brand is not exaggerating when it says that it is a specialist in portraits.

The Reno 10 5G features a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor and 8GB of RAM (an additional 8GB of internal storage may be required). You won’t have any problems if you want to run your favorite applications.

The main optics consists of a 64 MP sensor, a 32 MP Sony IMX709 telephoto lens, responsible for shooting high-quality portraits, and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens (112-degree angle).

Other highlights of the Reno 10 5G include a 5,000mAh battery with 67W SUPERVOOC, 256GB of internal storage, and 5G compatibility.

When did I try this? In November 2023, it was nice to receive the first representative of the Moto G series with vegan leather armor, which adds elegance to almost any unit in which it is implemented.

Why did I like it? Vegan leather aside, the Moto G84 5G is well equipped on all fronts, from a quality display to optimal performance. This is the most affordable recommendation on this list.

The Motorola phone appears to be lightweight, weighing just 166g, but its screen size is significant: 6.55-inch pOLED. Other attributes include Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate to enjoy smooth content.

In terms of processor and RAM, it includes Snapdragon 695 5G and 8GB respectively. It is enough to launch your favorite applications, both work and entertainment.

It also includes 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 5, a 5,000mAh battery, 30W TurboPower fast charging, a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), 256GB of internal storage, Android 13, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

When did I try this? It was in the first quarter of 2023, in March, when I had the opportunity to get my hands on this Honor representative.

Why did I like it? This is a phone that combines elegance, performance and optimal autonomy. This is a smartphone for which a curved screen is a sign of quality.

Honor knows how to stand out with products that strike a good balance between price and performance, and the Magic 50 Lite is no exception. The slim design (7.9mm) makes it easy to handle.

As we’d expect, the display is curved: it’s a 6.67-inch OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. A good response is given by the Snapdragon 695 5G, which is complemented by 6 GB of RAM (it is possible to add up to 5 GB of internal memory thanks to Honor RAM Turbo).

Other elements of the Honor Magic 50 Lite are a 64 MP main camera that provides images with a good level of detail, a 5100 mAh battery and 40 W SuperCharge fast charging.
