Although Google Pixel 9 can already be seen in other renders, the company’s next smartphone will be Google Pixel 8a, which will come as an update to the Pixel 7a with more updated features and a slightly more updated design. At least that’s what leaked images of the device’s box suggest.
Images have been filtered by the user @chunvn8888 X/Twitter shows what the back of the Pixel 8a will look like in black – it will likely come in other colors as well. We can see howThe corners will be a little more rounded.s than the Pixel 7a, and more closely resembles the look of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. However, Google will retain the distinctive photographic module that runs from edge to edge.
There is also a slight difference. Pixel 8a camera no longer connects to frameas is the case with the Pixel 7a or Pixel 8. This will now be part of the back of the device, which, according to 9to5Google, will continue to be made of polycarbonate. The rear panel, which could have been matte rather than glossy, also shows two lenses. It’s likely that we’ll continue to use a wide-angle sensor and another ultra-wide-angle camera – possibly the same one found on the Pixel 8.
Google Pixel 8a, possible features and release date
While the box images don’t reveal the main specifications of the Pixel 8a, a previous leak revealed that the smartphone will have 6.1″ OLED screen; same as Pixel 7a. We don’t know if Google will support 90Hz or instead opt for a 120Hz refresh rate to match the performance of smartphones in the same price range.
On the other hand, Google Pixel 8a is expected to include G3 Tensor Processor. Remember, this is the same module found in the Pixel 8 that allows, among other things, some AI-based features. Finally, the Pixel 8a will retain its predecessor’s 8GB of RAM, although it’s unclear what its memory versions will be.
As for its launch, everything points to the Pixel 8a being unveiled during I/O, the company’s developer conference, which could take place in May. It is unknown whether the price of the current model (509 euros) will remain the same.
