This Wednesday, March 27, the two thinnest foldable mobile phone models were launched in China. Vivo X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro.
Vivo
Both phones have the same set of screens. The internal panel has a diagonal of 8.03″ with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Samsung E7 material can be used up to 4500 nits maximum local brightness. The main screen measures 6.53 inches with a resolution of 1172 x 2748 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It uses Q9 Plus material but bumps up the brightness to 4,500 nits. That’s more than double the X Fold2’s displays, which peaked at 1,800 and 1,600 nits.
Features of Vivo X Fold 3 Pro
- It is powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset coupled with a custom imaging chip vivo V3. It comes in two configurations: 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB, with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
- The main camera has a 50 MP ultra-sensor, equipped with a 1/1.3-inch OmniVision OV50H sensor and an f/1.68 lens with optical image stabilization.
- 64 MP 3x telephoto lens with OV64B sensor (1/2″) and f/2.57 lens, as well as a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle (119°) module with Samsung JN1 (1/2.76″). The selfie cameras use a pair of 32MP (1/3.6-inch) sensors.
- The Pro model also features a huge battery: 5,700 mAh, which is 900 mAh more than the X Fold2.
- The Pro Battery comes with 100W wired professional charging and 50W wireless professional charging.
- Dual SIM 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, NFC and infrared emitter. The Pro also has USB 3.2 Gen2. Both feature stereo speakers and lossless wireless Hi-Fi audio. And both have physical mute switches. In addition to a better USB port, the Pro model also comes with two ultrasonic 3D fingerprint readers (one under each screen).
- Vivo The top-end model has a capacity of 16GB/1TB and costs RMB 11,000. The phones have already arrived at the Vivo store in China and deliveries will begin at the end of the month.
Features of Vivo X Fold3
- Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Configuration possible from 12 GB/256 GB to 16 GB/1 TB (LPDDR5X, UFS 4.0).
- The main camera uses a 50-megapixel Sony 1/1.49-inch sensor (IMX920 this time) and an f/1.75 lens with OIS. There is also a 50 MP portrait camera with a focal length of 50 mm (1/2.93″ IMX816, f/1.85) and a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera (the same JN1 with a 119° f/1.85 lens). Selfie cameras are the same 32-megapixel.
- It features a lightweight carbon fiber hinge that weighs just 14.98g and is certified by TÜV Rhinenland to withstand 500,000 flexes. vivo has also improved the phone’s drop resistance: the front is 11 times stronger and the back is 15 times stronger.

- Vivo There are other options: 16GB/256GB for RMB 7,500, 16GB/512GB for RMB 8,000 and 16GB/1TB for RMB 9,000. Both phones are available in black and white (called “Eclipse Black” and “Solar White”).
