Cell phone market share and technology adoption are important indicators of economic development and growth many times over. And in different regions of the world, brands are fighting for share.

Counterpoint Research’s latest report on smartphone shipments shows that out of 74 countries surveyed, Samsung was the leading smartphone brand in 38. Thus, Samsung reached the top spot in 10 more countries, taking into account that it was ranked number one in the fourth quarter of last year. at 28.
Samsung’s main competitor, Apple, ranked first in only 16 countries, down significantly from the 24 countries it ranked in the fourth quarter of 2023. Xiaomi also saw a decline, falling from 13 countries last year to number one in eight countries in the first quarter of 2024.
Two South American countries where almost half of the inhabitants use Samsung
Samsung’s dominance has a very important concentration in two South American countries, which together with Poland lead the market with more than 40% of the market share.
These southern cone countries are Chile and Brazil.
One of the best-selling models in this equation in both countries is Samsung Galaxy A14 5G and Samsung Galaxy A33 5G.
Samsung has also become a major handset supplier in Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong, where Apple has traditionally been the leader. However, Samsung lost the top spot in India, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands, where it previously held the top spot, to other manufacturers.
