Tipsters interviewed by the website say Apple’s warranty no longer covers hair-thin cracks 9to5Mac. In the company’s new repair policy, Any cracked screen is now considered “accidental damage” and requires payment for screen replacement.

Previously in some regions iPhones or iPads Hair-thin cracks can be repaired at no additional cost (unless there is another malfunction in the device).

HE type of crack can occur in many contextssuch as problems with the structure of the device or irregular use of the device (for example, pressure on the screen). Possibly due to this randomness factor, Apple’s warranty covered such damage and offered free repairs.

However, recently Apple Stores and authorized repair shops began classifying these cracks as “accidental damage”, no longer offers free repair service. Therefore, users need to pay to replace the screen.

According to 9to5MaciPads and Macs are still repaired for free, as the change in repair policies only applies to iPhone and Apple Watch.

So far, Apple has not commented on the change in device warranties. Therefore, it is not possible to say with certainty the reason for the renewal of repair policies. It is also unclear whether the change is final and applies to all markets.
