The best of Google Pixel 9 It’s a fantastic design and a dazzling aesthetic. Yes, the camera bump is large, but it’s a signature element, and that two-tone metallic sheen is quite attractive. Now imagine shrinking the camera island and aligning it so that the entire assembly sits flush with the rear glass housing.
Doesn’t sound so bad, right? Well, let’s wait until you see this idea in the flesh. It looks like a half-baked contender that was abandoned halfway through the design process. Earlier today, a Facebook fan page posted supposed images of the upcoming Google Pixel 9a.
If you look closely at the back, you’ll see a unique logo that’s reminiscent of prototype models or design candidates that Google has used in the past. The device, which looks like a prototype or one of the design candidates, has a camera island that’s reminiscent of the Google Pixel 6a, but without the raised horizontal stripe running across the back of the phone.

There is only a slightly raised pill-shaped outline, supposedly to protect camera lenses from scratches.
The rest of the hardware appears to have been lifted directly from the Pixel 9, right down to its flat sides, metal frame, and rounded corners.
Should you trust this leak? It originated from a Vietnamese social media group. Images of the retail packaging leaked earlier this year. Google Pixel 8a They also emerged in Vietnam a few months before the phone’s launch.
Vietnam is a recurring theme, lending credibility to the leak for another reason: According to The New York Times, Google has moved some Pixel smartphone production to the Southeast Asian country, following in the footsteps of Apple and Microsoft.
I appreciate the major redesign that Google seems to be planning for its next Pixel-A phone. However, the lack of a contrasting Pixel camera panel looks odd, and the naked look of the pill-shaped camera frame looks lazy and downright cheesy.
If Google’s Pixel 8a release schedule is anything to go by, the Pixel 9a won’t hit stores until May next year. It’s likely that Google will change the design, or perhaps what we’re seeing is just a mockup of the device.
Given the lengthy process of concept sketching, testing, and actual build, it looks like this leak could be real.

If this turns out to be true, I definitely won’t be going anywhere near the phone, even though I love the beautiful looks and fantastic price of the Pixel 8a. In the meantime, if you need some inspiration, dear Google friends, maybe take a look at this beautiful Pixel 9a concept that someone shared on X (above).
