If your phone gets wet from swimming in a pool, taking a shower while listening to music, or dropping it in the toilet, it will likely have problems.

One of them could be that your speakers have been flooded and now the sound quality is terrible. When water gets into your phone speakers, the sound is muffled, and if you let it dry inside, it can seriously damage the speakers.

But what do you do if your phone’s speakers get wet? Aside from sending your device in for repair or considering buying a new one, you can visit a page that tries to solve this problem.

The website is called Fix My Speakers and was created by a young Toronto developer named Joseph Maxim.

The network works in the same way as the water removal feature built into the Apple Watch. So, it emits a special tone that generates sound waves that can cause the liquid to be ejected.

To repair the speakers, you need to go to the Fix My Speakers website from the relevant phone and turn up the volume of your device to the maximum. Then tap the button located in the center of the screen, where you will see a wind icon and another one with three drops of water.

When you press the button, the website will make a sound that probably bothers you and you want to stop hearing it, but don’t stop it because the waves from that ring will displace the water from your phone’s speakers.

Then you should wait for a few minutes until the speakers can be heard clearly. This will mean that the liquid inside that caused the device to sound bad has come out of the speakers. Finally, press the sound button to stop the ringtone. That’s it.

If after using this tool your speakers sound as good as before, your phone is probably not damaged further, so you can rest assured. Otherwise, you will need to take your phone to a service center to have it repaired.
