After Huawei announced the Mate XT as the first smartphone that can be folded into three pieces, Honor seems to want to take a share of this market. According to speculations by Teme, who provided information via X (former Twitter), Honor is working on a mobile phone with two hinges measuring only 10 mm.
Developing a product with so many curves no longer seems like an easy task, but producing a smartphone that’s just 1 centimeter thick when closed is a remarkable milestone. For comparison, the Huawei Mate XT is 12.8mm when folded, while the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 12.1mm.
Teme didn’t reveal any additional details about Honor’s potential foldable device, but considering the company recently announced the Magic V3, which holds the title of the world’s thinnest foldable at 9.2mm, it’s not much of a surprise to see the company with such an ambitious project.
Rising market
It’s worth reiterating that the world of triple-sided smartphones is relatively new. Huawei launched the first one, and brands like Samsung and TCL may also be working on devices with the same mechanism.
Recently, Chinese brand Tecno showed off a very bold triple foldable concept. The Phantom Ultimate 2 measures 11mm and offers multiple ways to use it using various folding features.
The triple foldable market is heating up, but it will be a while before Honor announces its thin foldable.
