Those who are naturally optimistic, those who always see the glass as half full, will live longer. If you belong to these people and look for the positive side of life, you will have a life full of benefits. One more point for your health. This is according to a new study by a research team from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts. It is scientifically proven that optimists is a symptom of lifespan and health.
The study evaluated the lifespan of 160,000 women aged 50 to 79 years during
period of 26 years. Initially, the women took a self-assessment test of optimism. The ones who
reported that the highest scores were called optimistic. Conversely, those with lower scores
are classified as pessimistic.
In 2019, scientists double-checked the participants in that study and reassessed who was still alive. And then
have investigated duration of existence of the participants now dead. It turned out that women who
they had a higher level of optimism, they were more likely to live longer.
Exactly, women with higher optimism were more likely to live to be 90 than women
pessimistic. For scholars, it is a symptom of “Exceptional Longevity”. The average duration of women, in fact, in
Developed countries is about 83 years old.
The study only looked at women, but does the same about optimism and longevity also apply to men? Be that as it may, another study looked at both women and men and found that:
both, if very optimistic, live longer. They can enjoy a life between 11% and
15% more than the pessimistic.
