A few weeks ago it became known that Google had allegedly canceled the launch Pixel tablet 2despite advanced development with a target of its debut in 2025. Mountain View residents reportedly made the drastic decision due to concerns that the device would not sell well and would cost them too much money. Apparently, the third generation model would have suffered the same fate, which would have marked the Californian company’s final abandonment of this type of product.
Now, thanks Android authoritywe can get a better idea of the features that the Pixel Tablet 2 could boast of. The above-mentioned media outlets had access to the improvements that could come to this device, and they leave us with a bitter aftertaste. Not because they disappointed, but quite the opposite. Some specific innovations could dramatically change the perception of the device compared to the original model and put it on par with alternatives from other brands.
The most remarkable fact relates to the screen. It was previously rumored that the Pixel Tablet 2 would have significantly narrower edges than its predecessor. But that wouldn’t be the only optimization, as the 10.95-inch LCD panel would offer 120Hz refresh rate and it would be 10% brighter. To this one could add 4K video output via USB-C port thanks to DisplayPort support.
Pixel Tablet 2 was supposed to come with some very interesting improvements.
The rest of the Pixel Tablet 2’s new features could be a logical progression, but are still welcome. Android authority confirms that the second generation device will use the chip Tensioner G4the same one that Google used in the Pixel 9. This should have meant a dramatic jump in performance compared to the Tensor G2 of the original Pixel Tablet.
The new version of the tablet will also ditch the Sony sensors and use two Samsung sensors for both the front and rear cameras. The first will have a resolution of 8 to 10 megapixels, and the second will have up to 11 megapixels and will add an autofocus function.
The battery would be another area where the Pixel Tablet 2 has improved over the previous version. The canceled model would have included one of 7200 mAhversus the previous one at 6900 mAh. However, it is not specified how much battery life could be improved, given the increase in both maximum brightness and refresh rate.
A few days before the announcement of its cancellation, which Google has yet to publicly comment on, it was said that the idea was to give the Pixel Tablet 2 a greater emphasis on productivity. Theoretically, the new version will be equipped with a keyboard cover, and stylus support will also be improved.
If it becomes official that Google I won’t release any more tabletsThe original Pixel Tablet will remain an experiment in the company’s sporadic return to this form factor. Let’s not forget that Californians had already given up on these devices a few years ago after the Pixel Slate fiasco.
