Nothing Phone (1), the first smartphone of the company founded and managed by Carl Pei, who was one of the founders of OnePlus, has already been officially announced. To the surprise of some – as previously confirmed by the person in charge of the company – the device is equipped with a Snapdragon 778G + SoC, a mid-range processor with wireless charging and reverse charging compatibility. It also includes a design that is very different from other smartphones, as well as other more common features of modern mobile phones, such as a 120Hz screen and a triple camera with up to 50 megapixels. All this for a price of just under 500 euros..
Thus, the new Nothing Phone (1) seems to be an ideal option for those users who are looking for an inexpensive mobile phone with a priori decent performance, full screen mode, a versatile photographic section and a striking design. But, How does this smartphone perform compared to its competitors?. Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, iPhone SE 2022, Xiaomi 12X, Realme GT2 and Poco F4 GT are the phones that most closely resemble this phone (1).
Each of these models has a differential characteristic. For example, he Samsung Galaxy S21FE stands out with an excellent screen, and iPhone SE offers a high-end chip in a medium package and price. Xiaomi 12Xmeanwhile, is the most balanced in terms of benefits, while Small F4 GT compete also in performance. But let’s take it step by step.
Design and screen: Nothing Phone (1) is a clear winner
There is no doubt, in terms of design, Nothing is a clear winner. The company’s terminal offers a distinctive aesthetic compared to other smartphones, not only because it has a glass back and aluminum frames – something that matches the iPhone SE – but also in two important ways. First, the back is transparent and reveals some of the main components of the smartphone. The second has a system of LED indicators that light up, for example, when a notification or a call arrives. This is something that other mobile phones do not offer.
The front one, yes, is already more like the rest of the devices. All of them, with the exception of the 3rd generation iPhone SE, which includes bezels on the top and bottom, have minimal bezels and a camera right on the screen. They also include an under-dash fingerprint scanner. The iPhone SE has it at the bottom.
The screen, again, is similar to most smartphones. Like Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, so does Xiaomi 12X, Poco F4 GT and Realme GT2. They have an AMOLED panel, Full HD + resolution and dimensions of 6.4; 6.28; 6.67 and 6.62 inches suddenly. In all cases, moreover, with a frequency of 120 Hz. NichtoPhone 1, for its part, has a 6.55-inch OLED panel. It also has Full HD+ resolution as well as a 120Hz refresh rate. The iPhone SE and its 4.7-inch 60Hz LCD panel with HD+ resolution lag behind here.
Who wins in performance and autonomy?
One of the main differences from Nothing Phone (1) competitors is the processor. Every smartphone, with the exception of some models, has a different SoC.. For example, iPhone SE 2022 is equipped with A15 Bionic chip, while Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is equipped with Exynos 2100. On the other hand, Xiaomi 12X is equipped with Snapdragon 870G processor.
This is exactly the same processor as the Nothing phone (1), but with the difference that the London-based company’s model includes a “Plus” version that gives it compatibility with fast and wireless charging. Poco F4 GT is also one of the phones with the best processor thanks to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while Realme GT has Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood.
what about the battery? Capacities, again, are very similar for all models. However, it is necessary to take into account the optimization of the processor. Snapdragon 870G+ is one of the most efficient. This is the reason the company chose him. It also includes wireless charging compatibility, which also includes the iPhone SE and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. These are the capabilities of different models.

Differences in cameras
Phone (1) has dual main camera; the configuration is very similar to other models. The main sensor, in particular, has a resolution of 50 megapixels. It is accompanied by a second ultra wide-angle camera of the same resolution. The iPhone SE, meanwhile, only has a 12-megapixel primary sensor. While the rest of the models include three cameras: a wide-angle sensor, an ultra-wide-angle sensor and a macro camera with almost the same resolution.

In terms of versatility, it’s true that Poco F4 GT, Realme GT2 and Xiaomi 12X take up a bit of space for this second macro sensor. However, this does not mean that the results will be more favorable in these models. We must also take into account that this type of camera is almost never used in everyday life,
Prices: an important point
During the comparison, we were able to verify that all terminals except the iPhone SE have very similar specifications. Some of them like Nothing Phone (1) with transparent design or Poco F4 GT with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor; they stick out the chest in some specific area. But what about its price? It is important to choose one or the other model, so let’s see at what price these models are available.

Which model to choose depends on the needs you are looking for in a smartphone and your budget. For example, if you are interested in a mobile phone with a good screen, camera and excellent performance, but you are not concerned with design; The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE might be a good option. If, on the other hand, you’re into design and autonomy, perhaps Nothing Phone (1) offers what you’re looking for and is also cheaper than the rest.
