The iPhone 14 isn’t selling as much as expected, but there are upsides

The iPhone 14, announced just a few weeks ago, isn’t selling as much as Apple had hoped. The Cupertino company is thus reduced its production planned for the second half of 2022reportedly bloomberg.

Apple specifically asked its suppliers suspend the additional production of 6 million iPhone 14 planned for the specified period. The total number of units produced, minus those six million, would be 90 million units. About the same as last year.

At some point, Apple predicted an increase in demand for this new family compared to the iPhone 13 series. And this happened, despite the economic difficulties that various regions faced. However, this is not what is happening.

In this situation, the company will return to its original plans, revealed in May last year by the aforementioned media: to maintain “flat” production regarding the iPhone 13.

Apple asks to prioritize iPhone 14 Pro production over iPhone 14

Curious, The iPhone 14 Pro is selling better than cheaper models. The company would essentially ask one of its suppliers to prioritize the production of the Pro model over the aforementioned options by assigning production lines to said model that were originally associated with the cheapest models. But what influences the sales of new iPhones and why is the iPhone 14 Pro, despite the higher price, more popular than the base model?

On the other hand, growth in demand for the iPhone 14 Pro compared to the iPhone 14, this may be due to important innovations of the flagship model. Among them is the Dynamic Island or improvements in the photographic section. Surprisingly, however, the price increase for this version is not a deterrent to users.
