Apple released a new iOS security update on Tuesday. The update fixes another zero-day, the tenth day since the beginning of this year.It is used by hackers to attack iPhones and iPads.

The bug, designated CVE-2022-42856, was discovered by Clément Lecigne of Google’s Threat Analysis Group. It caused confusion in Apple’s Webkit browser engine.

According to Apple, the vulnerability “may have been actively exploited” in previous versions of the security bulletin for iOS/iPadOS 15.7.2, Safari 16.2, tvOS 16.2 and macOS Ventura 13.1. However, the Cupertino company did not provide details about the attacks.

The bug allows maliciously crafted web content to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable device. Thus, cybercriminals can use malicious websites to execute commands on iOS. Malware or spyware distribution is also included.
