Apple Watch Ultra flies over Norway to help a security company detect gunshots. The information comes directly from Marius Marents, one of the directors of Triangula, the company behind the idea.

“We can use the Apple Watch as a sensor in our Gun Sound Detection System. Today we mounted an Apple Watch Ultra on a drone,” Marents says in a Linkedin post. “This is so cool.”

Triangula is no stranger to such solutions for using gunshot detection software. The company was already using other drone-hung devices for this purpose, but it needed three or more cell phones or Apple Watches. The new Ultra model allows you to use only one for this purpose.

Utilizing the drone’s flight capability, the Apple Watch Ultra’s sensors, and its own Triangula Scout app, the complete system can recognize the distinctive sound of a gunshot and locate its exact location. Marents also praises the higher battery capacity, which makes the Ultra more useful for such setups.
