February will once again be the month when Samsung officially unveils three of its flagships, at least in the first half of the year. It is, of course, about Galaxy S23, a line of smartphones that, while somewhat eclipsed by the company’s foldable devices, continues to stand out with its high performance and full photographic section. This year, the new Galaxy offers significant improvements over its predecessors; The improvements we will see are primarily in the area of performance and camera. At least that’s what the latest rumors indicate.
Samsung, in particular, may announce up to three models in February Galaxy S23. On the one hand, the standard version, which may have a smaller screen and slightly lower specs than other versions. On the other side, Galaxy S23+with a slightly larger screen and slightly improved performance.
The jewel in the crown, yes, will be Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra; a model that will not only have an even larger screen, but will also offer a more advanced set of cameras and additional features such as S Pen holder.
All of them will arrive, according to the latest leaks, with continuation aspect in relation to its predecessors. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus, for example, will have slightly curved sides, a frosted glass back, and a completely flat screen. What will disappear in both cases is the wedge that surrounded the cameras and which Samsung introduced with the Galaxy S21.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra, on the other hand, will have a slightly more rectangular format, with flat bezels on the top and bottom and curved ones on the left and right. The rear part will stand out with its cameras, which, like in other models, will not have a specific module, but will stand out individually. Of course, all versions will be protected from water and dust.
No major changes to some features
Samsung will also be somewhat conservative with the size and resolution of the Galaxy S23 screens. According to some rumors, the base model will come with a SuperAMOLED panel. 6.1 inches, Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate. That is, the same characteristics as the version announced last year.
The leak also revealed the screen specs of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which will arrive with a diagonal of 6.8 inches, QHD+ resolution and also at 120 Hz. Therefore, it is likely that the Galaxy S23 Plus features a 6.6-inch Full HD+ panel with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, just like its predecessor.
Samsung, yesand rumored– I would include an interesting novelty on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 + screen: the ability to increase it brightness to peak 1750 nits However, this maximum is probably only available for certain content. For example, for those in HDR.
Goodbye Exynos
Where we will see an important novelty is in performance. Samsung in particular will bet on Qualcomm’s latest SoC for three versions: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This will also be done in all markets where they will be available. thereby saying goodbye to their own processors, Exynos. On the other hand, different versions of the Galaxy S23 are expected to include 8GB to 16GB of RAM and 128GB or 512GB of internal storage.
In the autonomy section, we will also see changes. First of all, in the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus. They can come with 3900mAh and 4700mAh batteries respectively.. That is 200 mAh more than its predecessors. They will also include 25W fast charging and, of course, wireless charging compatibility. Galaxy S23 Ultra will keep 5000 mAh with 45W fast charging.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 will arrive with significant improvements in the photographic section.
Cameras, one of the most noteworthy features of Samsung mobile phones, will be the protagonists for another year. In fact, the company has already made some improvements to the promotional images that will end up in the photos section. Among them, higher resolution and the ability to make “amazing night photos”.
Samsung, yes, does not seem to change the camera configuration in any of the three models. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ will ship with a wide-angle main sensor, an ultra-wide-angle camera, and a telephoto camera.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra will have these three elements, but will also add a fourth periscope camera for taking long-range optical zoom photos. Of course: the main sensor of this model can go from 108 megapixels of the previous version to 200 megapixels. Precisely, and among other improvements, it is this resolution that will allow you to take better photos in low light conditions (thanks to pixel binning). As such, Samsung highlights night photography in one of its teaser.
Other sensors are not expected to change.. So the ultra-wide camera could be 12MP, while the telephoto cameras could be 10MP. On the other hand, it’s not clear if the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus will also have a 200-megapixel main sensor or if it will be an exclusive feature for the Ultra model.
Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra: release date and possible prices
We reiterate that the Samsung Galaxy S23 will be announced early next month. This will be, in particular, February 1. when the company celebrates the first Unpacked of the year.
It is not yet clear if the Galaxy S23 will cost more than last year’s models., because the rumors about this at the moment are very contradictory. However, it will not be strange if the company increases the cost of the respective models due to the current economic situation. This is exactly what companies like Apple have already done. In any case, and taking into account the prices of last year, the Galaxy S23 could be sold as follows.
- Samsung Galaxy S23: from 849 euros.
- Samsung Galaxy S23+: from 909 euros.
- Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: from 1259 euros.
We’ll have to wait until February 1st to find out exactly the new pricing, as well as the rest of the specs and news of Samsung’s new flagships.
