Oppo is not enough to take on Samsung and its Galazy Z Fold with the Oppo Find N2; which, in my opinion, is the benchmark in this category of smartphones. The Asian company also wants to try to compete with what I consider, despite its shortcomings, to be one of the most recommended flexible screen mobile phones; Galaxy Z Flip 4. Yes, with Oppo Find N2 Flipshell mobile phone that inherited some of the advantages of its older brother, which, fortunately, arrived in Spain and which in hypertext We were able to test this first hand.

In a manner, The new Oppo Find N2 is very similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 from Samsung. Not only because of their format, whose flexible screen folds vertically, but also because they have a lot in common. Both models, for example, have a 6.8-inch Full HD+ screen at up to 120Hz, both have a top-end SoC – albeit from a different manufacturer – and they also have a dual camera setup with a very similar setup.

So, aside from the improvements one or the other has to offer in areas like screen quality or power, How is the Find N2 Flip different from the Galaxy Z Flip 4 or other foldable devices if they share most of the features? In particular, these are the following points.

  • External screen bigger. This, among other benefits, makes content access much more intuitive.
  • Screen wrinkles are less pronounced. This is thanks to the hinge mechanism that the manufacturer included and which is also present in the Find N2.
  • It has a big battery: 4300 mAh. We must take into account, yes, that its external screen is larger, so this may affect battery consumption.

These are, without a doubt, the characteristics that put the Find N2 Flip in the first place. At least apparently. But are these really notable changes that make you think it’s a worthy option given the large number of alternatives out there? And with its arrival in Spain, does Samsung really have to worry about folding?

Inheriting the best from his older brother

As I mentioned, one of the main advantages of this Find N2 Flip over other “shell” smartphones like Samsung’s Z Flip 4 is his virtually non-existent wrinkle on the screen. It’s barely noticeable thanks to the hinge – the same one we see on the Find N2 – which includes a mechanism meaning the screen’s fold isn’t as noticeable when fully folded, and therefore doesn’t become overly marked when unfolded.

Question: Is the label visible on the screen? Answer: minimum. Certainly much smaller than other folding ones. In fact, it gave me the feeling that the Find N2 Flip’s wrinkle is less noticeable than the Oppo Find N2’s wrinkle; probably because it has less travel, as it’s a much more compact panel, and because the hinge is in a horizontal position. Hinge, by the way, withstands up to 400,000 folds (equivalent to 100 folds per day for 10 years).

The internal screen, by the way, is 6.8 inches. It’s a Full HD+ AMOLED panel, 1080 x 2520 pixels, with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, and up to Peak brightness 1600 nits. This is a bright screen, very colorful and with a sharpness that is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent.

I will talk about you external screen. This one in particular 3.26 inches, with a resolution of 382×720 pixels. Its task is exactly the same as other similar smartphones: to be able to offer up-to-date information without having to fully expand the terminal. In this case, we can see notifications and incoming calls much more conveniently than, for example, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, since its size is much larger. In addition, its quality and brightness are very similar to the interior screen..

Oppo, on the other hand, has included an external screen for this. some widgets or shortcuts for different apps. For example, we can see and interact with what corresponds to the calendar application to quickly add or view events. There is also to see the time or shortcuts to some functions and modes of the camera.

The outer panel is also customizable. Oppo allows you to set different wallpapers, static or animated, using GIFsas well as a kind of interactive virtual pet, available in various designs, which also mimics the actions we do with a mobile phone.

For example, if I take a photo and close the lid, I see this pet also pretending to take a photo with his mobile. If I finish reading the article and close the terminal, the pet is also reading. It’s nonsense, but it’s amazing how well implemented it is and how intuitive it is to set up this external panel.

Hardware Oppo Find N2 Flip

Oppo Find N2 Flip

The Oppo Find N2 Flip also has a lot to offer in terms of hardware. Let’s start with the fact that the terminal includes a processor MediaTek Diemsity 9000+SoC that competes head-to-head with Qualcomm’s latest chip and which, in this case, is accompanied by 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. This is a somewhat curious configuration, given that most smartphones of this type rely on Qualcomm. However, after a few minutes of looking at various applications, I noticed a fairly convincing overall performance, although it is too early to draw conclusions.

To this we must add 4300 mAh battery, slightly larger than the 3,700mAh Galaxy Z Flip 4, which Oppo says can offer up to 11.8 hours of video playback. The Find N2 Flip also has a 44W fast charging feature that delivers 30% battery in about 15 minutes and 100% in almost an hour.

The Oppo Find N2 Flip cameras also play an important role. Are developed in cooperation with Hasselbad in order to improve processing and add some additional modes and functions. It also has Oppo’s own NPU, dubbed MariSilicon X, which allows you to capture images in RAW mode or record videos in night mode, among other things.

In terms of configuration, Find N2 has 50MP Sony IMX890 main sensoras well as 8MP ultra wide camera. It also includes a selfie camera located on a 23-megapixel flexible internal screen. These are very promising sensors and, on first impressions, they did not disappoint.

Now, after taking a few shots, both the ultra wide-angle camera and the 32MP front camera, They left a bittersweet taste in my mouth., as indoor photos produce results very similar to what I usually see on a mid/high end mobile phone. In general, they are not bad, but they are not at the level of a premium smartphone. In any case, as with the performance and battery section, it’s too early to draw conclusions.

The Oppo Find N2 Flip is an updated Galaxy Z Flip 4, but at what price?

Oppo

In the absence of detailed testing of the Find N2 Flip’s three key points: the camera, its performance and battery, there is no doubt that This foldable phone is what the Galaxy Z Flip 4 had to be in order for Samsung’s mobile phone to be near-perfect.. This is partly due to the complex design and hinge mechanism, which in turn makes the appearance of wrinkles on a flexible screen almost unpredictable.

Also for this external screen significantly more intuitive and customizable, with very well-optimized software and features that allow you to take advantage of the ability to fold the screen to different angles.

Thus, Find N2 Flip has every chance to become the most recommended flexible screen mobile phone. Especially if you take into account its price.

This mobile phone, in particular, will go on sale March 1 in two colors: black with a granite finish; and purple, more of a light pink — very beautiful, in my opinion. It will also be sold in only one version: with 8 GB of RAM and 126 GB of internal memory. at a price of 1049 euros. Or 999 euros when booking from 15 to 28 February.

In other words, it costs €50 less than the Galazy Z Flip 4 and €70 less than the 2022 Motorola Razr Z. I repeat, it has yet to be tested more thoroughly to see if it really is a worthy competitor for both folding models. . But there is no doubt that its appearance in the Spanish market will disturb Samsung and other manufacturers with similar obligations.
