Tecno is one of the first companies to draw attention at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 with the announcement of a new technology. A Chameleon Painting Technology It promises to allow to change the color of the mobile phone instantly, in real time, for any option the user chooses.

The interesting thing about Tecno’s new concept is that the Chameleon isn’t an extra screen or anything like that. a material applied directly to the body of a mobile phone with thousands of microscopic prisms that scatter light in different ways – results in different colors.

The concept shows that it will be possible to choose from 1,600 different colors, including gradient and some effects such as gradient. According to Tecno, it will only take 0.03 seconds for the Chameleon to change color, and battery consumption will be minimal. The company estimates that it’s possible to change colors 100 times a day and spend the equivalent of watching 5 minutes of video.

In addition to letting you choose colors manually, Chameleon also allows an automatic appearance change, reflecting, for example, battery status or notifications.

Tecno has already done something similar

However, it may be a while before we see Chameleon finished in a product for the public. Despite Tecno’s promises, the images shown are only conceptual. The technology doesn’t even have a prototype right now.

But the company is confident in its new tech because it will be the next step in the Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition, something similar that has been released before. The mobile has only officially come out in India and has a back that changes color depending on how the light hits it.

Camon 19 Pro changes colors analogically.

The difference is that Chameleon wants to let the user choose any color manually, so let’s see if Tecno can do that.
