OnePlus just announced in their “From Fast & Smooth to Beyond” panel on MVK 2023 which will release its first foldable smartphone this year. Although OnePlus released One Plus 11 earlier this month, the company revealed plans to launch its first foldable smartphone in the second half of 2023.

“Our first foldable phone will have a unique fast and smooth OnePlus experience. It should be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle down due to its foldable shape, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology and other aspects. We want to launch a device that should be the best in today’s foldable device market,” said Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus, at the event.

While OnePlus may not be as big a player as Samsung in the US smartphone market, it has been around since 2013. The OnePlus 11 is also the first OnePlus phone to feature extended software support for up to four years, on top of five years. security updates similar to Samsung flagships. Paired with powerful hardware and software, OnePlus phones should be future-proof for quite some time.

OnePlus hasn’t revealed what its next foldable smartphone will look like. However, we can think of some ideas. Since OnePlus and Oppo are owned by the same parent company, which is BBK Electronics, we had the idea that the OnePlus foldable phone would be similar to the Oppo Find N2 or Find N2 Flip.

Find N2 is a foldable tablet similar to Samsung Galaxy Z fold 4. The Find N2 is slightly wider and shorter than the Z Fold 4, and when fully open you get a 7.1-inch AMOLED display with fairly thin bezels and ergonomically curved corners. It is relatively thick, but the 5.54-inch screen protector is very comfortable to use. It also closes completely, and while there is a camera bump on the back (although it doesn’t protrude too much), overall it’s relatively compact for a foldable phone. If OnePlus opts for a traditional tablet style, that could give us a big clue as to what to expect.

The side of the Oppo Find N2 Flip is partially open.

On the other hand, the Find N2 Flip is similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 4, but the lid screen is vertical and larger, providing a bit more usability. Since it opens into a full phone, it’s definitely smaller and more compact than the Find N2. If the OnePlus foldable phone is in flip style, we can assume that it will be something similar to the Find N2 Flip.
