Who owned (or at least wished to have) a Motorola V3? The iconic phone got a smart version with the arrival of Motorola Razr in 2019. Now, This Lenovo confirmed that an updated model of the smartphone will be available later this year.

Yuanqing Yang, CEO of the company that owns Motorola, spoke on the subject at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this Wednesday (1). in an interview with CNBCThe manager explained that the phone is well received among the public and that the next version should come “very soon”.

According to him, the new device will be much better. The ability to preserve the folding feature, which is the great attraction of the device, Razr 2023 focuses on hinge upgrades as well as apps.

Is this the price?

Yang acknowledges that clamshell smartphone prices are high, but believes the drop could boost the market. “As the technology matures, you can lower the price and increase the volume,” Lenovo CEO said.

Razr V3 was one of the most popular flip phones in the world in the 2000s. The phone was released in 2004 and soon became an icon, selling more than 130 million copies.

According to IDC, foldable smartphones accounted for only 1.1% of total phone sales in 2022. According to forecasts, this rate should reach 2.8% by 2026.
