Apple has hired LG’s subsidiary LG Innotek to make a selfie camera for the iPhone 14 series, the anonymous parties told ET News. The production of camera modules has already begun, and according to sources, it will cost three times more than the current selfie camera.
LG Innotek will take over the entire production of the cameras and will integrate an important new function in the module: autofocus. This will be the first for an iPhone selfie camera. In addition, the South Korean company processes optical image stabilization, the camera’s circuit board and actuators in the real module.
Initially, LG Innotek was only meant to come for the iPhone 15, but according to the report, Apple has stepped up its plans to use an improved selfie camera for this year. The idea behind investing in a better selfie camera is to improve video call quality.
All variants of the current iPhone 13 series use the same 12 MP selfie camera
