Apple expects to sell fewer iPhones in 2022. Various factors are believed to be responsible for this, including the global chip shortage. The company asked its manufacturers to reduce production. Initially, the company wants to ship 240 million iPhones. Apple has now reduced that target to 220 million. As a result, the producer will not see any growth this year.

The global chip shortage is cited as one of the reasons. Production lines are also regularly stopped in Asia due to the Corona pandemic. In addition, more and more industries like automakers are asking for chips. Apple doesn’t talk much about A-series or M-series SoCs, but mainly about chips like display drivers and power management chips.

Another reason is global inflation, which means consumers are spending less. According to Apple, its revenue for the current quarter is expected to drop by about $8 billion. Due to problems in the production chain, the iPhone 14 may be released later.
