It looks like Microsoft has already started developing Windows 11 version 23H2. Leaked source code snippets have already revealed the expected release sometime in the fall of 2023.

Twitterer @teroalhonen has leaked code that appears to come from two different threads used in the Windows source code.

in the first picture we see notes that appear to be coming from a network header. Windows 11 23H2 is listed here as “copper release”, which is the codename the Windows team used for the 23H2 development phase.

in the second picture we see some instructions for a preprocessor (what code is passing for compilation). “NTDDI_WIN11_SV3” refers to Windows 11 Sun Valley 3, the name given to Windows 11 version 23H2. The part between “#if” and “#endif” is processed only if the code is compiled for 23H2 or higher.

Meanwhile, Windows 11 22H2 will not yet be generally available later this year. Microsoft recently confirmed that Windows 11 Insider Build 22621 is the first 22H2 release.
