He Model 2 This is without a doubt one of the projects Tesla it creates more expectations. And although we’ve already had a sneak peek of sorts at the expected €25,000 model, there’s still a lot to learn. However, Elon Musk has already determined where it will be produced, and for many this may come as a surprise.

Reportedly ReutersTesla Model 2 It will be produced at the Berlin Gigafactory., in Germany. The tycoon confirmed the news last Friday during a visit to his company’s facilities in Germany. In any case, no additional details on this matter have been disclosed.

Elon Musk’s recent visit to Tesla’s Gigafactory in Berlin is a fact. X (Twitter) posted videos of the businessman thanking his employees for their efforts this year. He would also take the opportunity to announce a 4% pay rise for all staff at the German plant, which would take effect this month.

For now, It is unknown when production of the Tesla Model 2 will begin in Germany.. Let’s keep in mind that today these businesses are focused on the Model Y, the world’s best-selling electric vehicle in 2022 and the third largest vehicle in the world, including gasoline and diesel vehicles.

The Tesla Model 2 will be made in Germany, at least in principle.

What does it say? Reuters seems to expose something of a contradiction within Tesla regarding the production of the Model 2. Let’s remember that Elon Musk’s original idea was for this car to be produced at the Gigafactory, which would be located in Mexico. However, the businessman would be forced to change my mind.

On the one hand, this will be due to the fact that for the success of the model costing 25,000 euros, the constant presence of the Tesla engineering team at this plant will be required. And resettlement of such a scale would be impossible. That’s why, as Musk told Walter Isaacson, the author of his biography, he would decide to change the plan and start production at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.

But the story didn’t end there. Delays in the construction of the Gigafactory in Mexico will also play a role in the change of headquarters for the original Tesla Model 2 production line. The Mexico plant was originally expected to be operational in 2025, but work on it may be delayed until 2027.

Given all this, it is unclear whether Elon Musk’s new idea is to move production of the Tesla Model 2 exclusively to Berlin. or is it happening simultaneously in Germany and the USA. When the tycoon presented the silhouette of a new economic model, he assured that the idea was to use it to finally revolutionize the way cars are made.

Tesla is already developing its assembly lines with the Model Y, but intends to take them to the next level with the Model 2. The €25,000 car should be more scalable, with 75% fewer semiconductors such as transistors and chips, and a powertrain Compatible with any type of battery, as explained in May.

Will Gigafactory Berlin be the first home of the Tesla Model 2? In the meantime, we can only wait for new news. Although it wouldn’t be unusual if this were part of the company’s plan to increase production of this capacity to one million cars per year.
