How to Edit Word Files from Google Docs

For several weeks we have been writing tutorials on how to use the Office suite, both Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, as well as the Google environment. Today is a mixture of both worlds, as you will see.

For all those who have Google Docs and not Word but need to make changes to a Microsoft document.today’s trick can save your life, especially when it comes to work or school.

Here’s how to download and open a Microsoft Word document in Google Docs. The process is identical for PowerPoint and Excel documents.

• Sign in with your Google account and go to your Google Drive. Google Docs are stored in your Google Drive.
• Select “New” in the top left corner of the screen.

• Select Upload File.
• Another window opens to navigate to the location of your Word document. Find the file and upload it.

• Google Drive takes a few seconds to import the file. You will receive a notification in the lower right corner of the screen. It notifies you that the download is complete. You will also see the document appear on your disk.
• Select a document in Drive to open it.

• You will see your document in the Google Drive viewer. It’s like a browser-based PDF viewer. At the top of the document, select Open with Google Docs.
• The document opens in Google Docs. From here, you can write anywhere in the document and your changes will be saved immediately.. You can also use the Google Docs heading editing tools.

These tools are almost identical to the editing tools in Microsoft Word. Keyboard shortcuts for Google Docs are the same as for Microsoft Word.

To share a document and collaborate with others, select Share in the top right corner of the screen.
