Just like in the last few months, AMD and Nvidia graphics cards seem to be getting cheaper. Besides improving stock shortages, there are several possible explanations: cryptocurrencies have taken a hit in recent weeks, making mining less financially attractive, and the next generation of video chips is slowly approaching.

As usual, in this overview we take a closer look at the five cheapest specific models of each GPU in the Product Comparator so we can get a better picture of the market situation.

Gigabyte RX 6800 Gaming OC, currently the most popular card, retails for 742 Euros.

As usual, we start with the green team. The average price of the RTX 3050, 3060, 3070 Ti and 3090 Ti is almost the same as last month, but the latter is still cheaper than the (firm) suggested retail price of 2,249 euros. The RTX 3080 Ti saw the sharpest drop (-10.2%), making it the second Amp card available for less than MSRP.

The RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 have also gotten noticeably cheaper, with these GPUs costing around five dollars less than in May. Relatively speaking, the RTX 3060 Ti remains the most expensive variant of the RTX 3000 series as it costs 30.82% more than its suggested retail price. The RTX 3060 also comes very close at an additional cost of 28.33%. On average, you’ll pay 15.30% above the suggested retail price for an RTX 30 card, or five points less than last month.

It is noteworthy that AMD’s RDNA 2 cards are also about 15% more expensive than the suggested retail price. This average is again greatly increased by the RX 6800 and 6800 XT, which are 49.5% and 37.3% more expensive, respectively. The RX 6500 XT is a few euros below the suggested retail price, while the RX 6750 XT is 2.9% more expensive with two extra dime.

Compared to the end of May, the RX 6600, RX 6750 XT, RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT are the biggest losers in the red camp: The price of these four GPUs has dropped by at least 8.1 percent. At the other end of the spectrum are the RX 6400 (+0.7%), RX 6500 XT (-1.4%) and RX 6900 XT (-1.2%). On average, you pay 5.8% less for an RX 6000 card than a few weeks ago.

The RX 6800 XT costs an average of 24 euros more than its smaller sibling.

The decline is again slightly less strong than last month, but the good news is that current generation video cards continue to get cheaper. Given the factors mentioned above, there is currently little reason to believe that this downtrend should (significantly) change.
