It must have happened to everyone at one time or another to miss some messages from whatsapp from someone because there were too many open conversations, and we ended up forgetting to respond to a message that may also be important, certainly an unpleasant and inelegant situation towards the interlocutor in question who may need an immediate response.

The WhatsApp team is working to make it easier for a new feature that will allow you to find unread messages without risking them getting lost in the mess that arises in groups and friends’ chats. WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp has released a beta version for iOS and Android with the ability to filter chat messages by “Unread”.

The feature has been made available to WhatsApp TestFlight beta testers for iPhone, luckily the Android beta testers (with WhatsApp beta 2.22.13.14) received the same great feature in a timely manner last week. Instead, beta testers on desktop and macOS have been using it for two weeks and now it has finally arrived at WhatsApp beta testers with iPhone, while WhatsApp business accounts have had this handy feature since January. It seems that WhatsApp team engineers are now working on making it part of the popular chat app’s feature set for all accounts.

As can be seen, the filter button is next to the search bar. By tapping it, the app will automatically display all your unread chats so they are easy to spot. Of course, if you want to remove the filter, just tap the “Clear Filter” option (accessible again via the filter button), which will return all your chats. Conveniently, if the filter is enabled and you use the search bar, WhatsApp will only show unread messages as search results. More beta testers will receive the feature in the coming weeks.

Once the testing process is complete, the rest of us can enjoy this handy feature as part of an official release. So far, the final release date for this update has not been announced.
