Cherry has expanded its MX Ultra Low Profile switch range with a tactile variant. These differ from the regular ULP versions in that there is no audible click, making them ideal for laptop keyboards and compact systems where silence is emphasized.

Unlike the MX ULP Click, which is acoustically comparable to the MX Blue, the MX ULP Tactile strongly resembles the MX Brown. Both Click and Tactile are 3.5mm high and offer 1.8mm of travel with actuation occurring after 0.8mm. The required actuation force of 65 centiNewtons is also the same. Also, the SMD LED, together with the translucent polymer, is placed just below the switch, which should provide an even light effect.

Cherry states that MX Ultra Low Profile Tactile switches will be featured on MSI’s Titan GT77 laptop and Corsair’s Voyager a1600 for the first time.
