In addition to the Smart Band 7, Xiaomi is also announcing its first ‘2 in 1 laptop’ Book S at a launch event. The tablet hybrid is powered by a brand new Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2-soc and has a 12.4 inch display. It will be available from the end of the month for 699 euros. The magnetic keyboard is also available for 150 euros. A Smart Pen compatible with the laptop hybrid will also be released, but a price has yet to be announced.

Xiaomi Book S has a 12.4-inch touchscreen with 100 percent color gamut (DCI-P3) and 2560×1600 resolution. The test model at the event has a configuration with 8 GB of RAM, but it is not yet known how much storage space is possible and whether other configurations are possible. Xiaomi promises that the Book S will last around 13 hours on a full battery with continuous use. The battery can be charged with 65 watts.

Another notable feature of the Xiaomi Book S is the inclusion of an SD card holder. Hardware Info held the Xiaomi Book S and discovered the card holder on the side of the laptop, assuming it was for a SIM card. Combined with the brand new Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2, this assumption seemed to indicate that the laptop has 5G support, but according to Xiaomi, that is not the case.

This is notable given that the laptop is quite expensive compared to many competing products with a comparable 2-in-1 laptop. Xiaomi can somehow close this price gap by providing cellular connectivity, an option that comes standard on new Snapdragons.
