SteelSeries has completed its line of gaming keyboards with the Apex Pro Mini. As the name suggests, this card uses a 60% compact layout. Like the regular Apex Pro, it has OmniPoint magnetic switches, although in this case it’s version 2.0. In addition to the Wired version, there will also be a Wireless version with 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth 5.0.

Unlike traditional mechanical switches, OmniPoint switches use magnetic hall-effect sensors to record keystrokes, meaning they can measure exactly how many times a key has been pressed. SteelSeries takes advantage of this to allow users to select the actuation point for each switch with a distance of between 0.2 and 3.8 millimeters, compared to 0.4 to 3.6 mm in the case of the OmniPoint 1.0. It is also possible to set up two different actions per key, depending on how much is pressed.

Due to its modest size, the manufacturer has provided certain keys with an extra function that appears at the bottom and can be activated via the SteelSeries button. Other features include a detachable braided USB type-c cable, folding legs, per-key RGB lighting, and a built-in keycap puller that can be stored at the bottom of the board. The latter only applies to the wired variant.

Apex Pro Mini and Apex Pro Mini Wireless are available immediately from the SteelSeries website. The recommended retail price of the regular version is 200 euros, while the wireless model changes hands for 260 euros.
