Ford Announces New 100% Electric Caprian SUV with which the oval brand aims to pay homage to one of its most historic and memorable models. It is a large car that strives for comfort and convenience.

Ford Capri will be offered in two variants: standard and premiumwhich will be available with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The automaker claims its new electric SUV can deliver sports car-like acceleration without sacrificing other features like range or storage.

Ford Capri And Premium Capri The rear-wheel drive cars are equipped with 77 kWh batteries, while in terms of performance they stand out with a power of 210 kW, which is equivalent to about 286 horsepower. Meanwhile, the all-wheel drive variants have batteries with a capacity of 79 kWh, and their motorization allows them to produce a power of 250 kW; that is, about 340 horses.

In terms of acceleration, they are not bad at all. The rear-wheel drive Ford Capri and Capri Premium accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and develop a maximum speed of 180 kilometers per hour. All-wheel drive accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h. 5.3 secondsalthough its maximum speed is also 10 km/h.

When it comes to range, the standard rear-wheel drive Ford Capri offers the most impressive figures: up to 627 kilometers according to the WLTP cycleFor other variants, the figures are smaller, but no less significant: 598 km for the Ford Capri Premium with rear-wheel drive, 592 km for the Capri with all-wheel drive and 560 km for the Capri Premium with all-wheel drive.

Key Features

An important point to highlight about the new electric Ford Capri is that, in addition to good battery capacity and autonomy, supports fast charging. Rear-wheel drive versions of the Capri and Capri Premium support a maximum charging power of 135 kW (DC), allowing them to charge from 10 to 80% in just 28 minutes. For all-wheel drive models, the maximum charging power is 185 kW (DC), so they can charge the battery from 10 to 80% while keeping the car connected to the charger for 26 minutes.

From a design perspective, Ford Capri electric is very good. And while it shares common features with other SUVs already available, for reasons specific to the type of vehicle, the distinctive element comes in the way the lines of the rear end fall. This is obviously a tribute to the aesthetics of the original Capri and the iconic rear design of the coupes that Ford produced in Europe from the late sixties until 1986.

If we look at the dimensions, we will see that the electric Ford Capri is 4.63 meters long and 2.06 meters wide. Its overall height is 1.62 meters, and the wheelbase is 2.76 meters. In terms of storage space, the SUV provides up to 572 liters in the trunkalthough it can be expanded considerably by folding the rear seats. Added to this is an extra 17 litres in what Ford calls the MegaConsole, which sits under the front armrest.

The new 100% electric Ford Capri includes 12 ultrasonic sensors, 3 radars and 5 cameras. This allows the car to be equipped with various driver assistance functions. Among those included in the standard package are the following:

  • Cross Traffic Alert with Active Braking;

  • Lane change warning.
