We take for granted how fireworks look from almost any angle. After all, we are used to seeing them several times a year, and the end of the year is the peak time to watch them wherever we are. But, Have you ever wondered what they look like from space?

Even when we are on our home planet, celebrating in the sky with colorful lights, often astronauts cannot be part of this group. Many of them spend long periods of time on the International Space Station. so they miss the show that takes place on dry land.

Of course, fortunately, they can communicate with us in real time and let us know how they see these celebrations from the cold vacuum of space.

So what do they look like from space?

In most cases fireworks do not have the necessary brightness leave a legacy that travels through space. In addition, the current climate also affects whether they can be seen off-planet, with clear weather being the most ideal for light to reach places as far away as the International Space Station.

If you’re really lucky with the darkness and the weather, sometimes you can see fireworks from space. From July 4th!

Chris Hadfield

Chris Hadfield, the famous astronaut you’ve probably seen wringing out a wet rag in space, was one of those lucky ones during the July 4, 2018 celebration. It is thanks to the above now we know what fireworks look like from spaceand while it’s not exactly what we hoped for, it should be something special when you’re many hundreds of miles above home.

You don’t really see the fireworks in all its glory. You can only see some colored dots quite small about some cities. This is taking into account the fact that the ISS flies in low orbit, quite close to the Earth. So don’t expect to see aliens reveling in the wonderful colors of the fireworks in Times Square during the New Year.

In 2014, Andre Kuipers, a former European Space Agency astronaut, also recalls seeing fireworks. As with Chris Hadfield, Kuipers he also saw colored dots when he was in space over Warsaw, Poland.
