Mummies, the discovery in Saqqara

Egypt recently announced that it is on the archaeological site of Sakkara hundreds old graves containing mummies and bronze statuettes. 150 bronze statuettes returned to the light of the sun, including those of the famous architect Imhotep

He was one of the greatest and most famous Egyptian architects, the creator of the famous step pyramid by Djoser, one of the oldest in Egyptian history. But Imhotep’s fascination is also great because he quickly became the god of medicine for the ancient Egyptians.

The aim was to find the tomb of the architect Imhotep, as mentioned by Mostafa Waziri, supreme leader of the Egyptian antiquities. Excavations have also returned to the world 250 sarcophagi dating back to the fifth century BC, containing ancient mummies. In one of these papyrus of nine meters in which some chapters of the infamous seem to have been preserved Book of the Dead

the “book of the dead” it was used by the ancient Egyptians to collect burial texts and spells useful for the transition from earthly life to the afterlife. These precious finds are transferred to Great Egyptian Museum which is expected to rise near the pyramids of Giza within a few months.

But the discoveries, in Saqqara, don’t end there. Not long ago, other sarcophagi dating back to the “new kingdom” period were found. Together with these beautiful artifacts, about fifty of them have seen the light again pharaonic tombs which gave new life to the passion of archaeologists.

A mystery destined to never end, that of ancient Egypt. A combination of legend, history, religion and superstition that can only fascinate anyone who approaches this unique world.
