Brazil is among the main countries that pioneered the so-called Age of Fitness; There has never been so much talk about physical exercise and lifestyle, especially on social media. In this market, our nation seems to be directly affected by other countries, especially the USA.

According to research by the American College of Sports Medicine, fitness trends that can be expected for the next year are emerging. After learning about fitness trends around the world, it’s time to know what to expect in Brazil’s fitness market in 2025.

The fitness market in Brazil in 2025

Based on the answers given by 1,728 Physical Education professionals, it was possible to classify the fitness trends expected for the next year in our country. Discover the top 10:

10. – Wearable technologies

Although this trend seems to be number 1 in the world, it only ranked 10th in Brazil. Devices that can be worn and attached to the body during exercise should not be a prerequisite for practice and should not be cheap.

But this equipment can help by measuring data such as heart rate, steps per day, distance and time traveled, amount and quality of sleep, among others. It may be common to see practitioners with smart watches, bracelets, ribbons and rings.

9. – Optional training

You flow Workouts like Nike Training on Netflix are becoming more common. Flexibility and comfort are its strong points, allowing the practitioner to access whenever and wherever he wants, including from the comfort of his living room. The diversity of exercise types is increasing, covering different audiences and their preferences.

Because we have so much flexibility, procrastination can be the enemy of training. But training with someone can literally join forces.

8. – Bodyweight training

This trend, also known as calisthenics, prioritizes mastering your own body and using it as resistance. It is possible to develop strength, flexibility and resistance with exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, squats and planks, which can be done anywhere with your own body and minimal equipment (or no equipment).

7. – Home gyms

This appears to be an overdue trend as it appears to be a legacy of the pandemic. Working out at home offers convenience, comfort and flexibility, with some building their own gym. This can be a personal investment with immediate and lifelong benefits, as it can improve your training day and the sum of these can make a difference down the road.

6. – Exercise for mental health

Considering that Brazil is the most anxious country in the world, it would be consistent to consider effective forms of mental health treatment. Physical exercise, along with psychotherapy and medication, has been shown to help treat depression and anxiety. It seems there is no best type of exercise, and the most important thing is to stay active in a method one enjoys for mental health benefits.

I also know that:

5. – Functional Training

Functional training focuses on a variety of activities to improve various components of physical fitness: muscular strength and endurance, power, agility, cardiorespiratory fitness, speed and coordination.

CrossFit - a type of functional training is the 5th fitness trend.

CrossFit is the main direction of this trend and, contrary to popular belief, does not carry a high risk as it is not confirmed by science as a very harmful method.

4. – Strength Training (Bodybuilding)

Bodybuilding doesn’t seem to age and has remained in the top 5 trends for Brazil. Strength training in gyms is very popular and generally has two distinct markets: chain gyms or neighborhood gyms.

Try the environment where you feel best; this makes a difference in sustaining strength training. The World Health Organization recommends two strength training sessions per week for major muscle groups for adults.

3. – Exercise for weight loss

Obesity is a public health problem plaguing Brazil and the world. The combination of overweight and obesity shows a high and growing prevalence in the Brazilian population; It is estimated that this rate will be 68% for 2030. Therefore, physical exercise is a behavior included in the treatment strategy for overweight and obesity.

2. – Exercise programs for the elderly

The increase in the elderly population, which represents 14% of the Brazilian population according to the last census, reveals an interesting scenario. With a life expectancy of 76.4 years, health needs to be protected.

To achieve this, physical exercise programs that include aerobic resistance, strength and muscle strength as well as balance and mobility are essential. The social aspect of exercise is also valued among older people.

1. – Personal training

Personalized and individualized service is the #1 trend for Brazil in 2025. Individual prescription, guidance and supervision was common in bodybuilding gyms and, as the evidence shows, actually makes the difference for practitioners to achieve greater results.

Personal training – Brazil's #1 trend in 2025.

Personal trainers can also work in students’ homes/gyms, public places or studios, but the high cost means few people have access to this service.

Trends point to a growing market but are heavily influenced by the fitness industry. The race, which has always been trending in Brazil and has a boom in participants and events, was not included in the rankings.

Don’t wait for 2025 to look for an active life, start now with your fitness trends, that is, your preferences, because these will make a difference in motivating you to exercise regularly.
