According to rumors Tesla has just launched the new low-cost model Y Standard in Spain.. The announcement comes just days after its unveiling in the United States, where it also arrived alongside the Model 3 Standard.

In Spain, the Tesla Model Y Standard will not only appear as the brand’s brilliant low-cost model, but will also replace what was until now the cheapest option in the catalogue: the rear-wheel drive Model Y, which is now disappearing from the Iberian catalogue.

Of course, to become the most affordable option, the Tesla Model Y Standard had to go through a number of tests. cutswhich are especially noticeable in the exterior design and interior comfort.

As we told you earlier this week, the new low-cost Model Y does without the headlights and taillights that debuted this year with Juniper’s redesign. Inside, the lack of an 8-inch screen in the rear seats and customizable interior lighting, as well as the installation of an enclosed, non-panoramic glass roof, stand out.

Tesla Model Y Standard debuts in Spain

The Tesla Model Y Standard offers textile-trimmed seats that are heated in the front two only, but not ventilated. Likewise, the steering wheel can be adjusted manually rather than electrically, and something similar happens with the rear seats, which can only be folded manually. Tesla also makes concessions in the audio system of the cheap Model Y, since it has 7 speakers – without a subwoofer – rather than 9 or 15, as in other versions.

With the introduction of the Y Standard model and the removal of the rear-wheel drive Y model from the catalogue, Tesla adds an even cheaper option with more autonomy as an entry-level model. The new affordable model debuts in Spain at €39,990; That is 5,000 euros less than the previous rear-wheel drive base version, which cost 44,990 euros.

In terms of autonomy, the cheap Tesla Model Y Standard promises up to 534 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. The manufacturer promises consumption of 13.1 kWh per 100 kilometers and maximum efficiency thanks to the new 18-inch Aperture wheels. Thus, in terms of power reserve, it surpasses the rear-wheel drive Model Y, which has a power reserve of 500 km. Of course, the brilliant electric car still lags behind what the Performance (580 km) and Long Range (+600 km depending on trim) variants offer.

Another point to keep in mind is that now also The jump between the entry-level model and the higher-end models is more obvious..
