14 long years to make it, but now it’s finally up and running. We are talking about a big battery until water finally finished, located in the middle of the canton of Valais, in Swiss. The amazing thing is that it will have a storage capacity of 20 million KWh. It will thus produce large amounts of clean energy and make a positive contribution to the environment. In particular, it is a huge artificial plant to produce hydroelectricity. It will exploit different heights of reservoirs. An ingenious operation developed by the Nant de Drance company.
The water spiral in its operation and design is very simple. On the mountain there are two greats water reservoirs at different heights. When the water flows from the highest to the lowest reservoir, turbines produce electrical energy. All using the movement of water as in a hydroelectric power station. Then the water is then transported to the upper reservoir by hydraulic pumps when no energy is required.
His peculiarity is also, as mentioned above, his very high capacity from storage: good 20 million from kWh. This is the first example of a Swiss water battery. Moreover, it is a first major step for the generation of clean energy for large parts of the territory.
Why is it clean? It’s easy, energy is produced in a very simple way with just the movement of water. At the same time, the construction of the storage system makes it possible to store excess electricity in times of emergency. A real contribution to protecting the environment and protecting it from further pollution.
