whatsapp is about to introduce a substantial package of news, all dedicated to the privacy of its users. Introducing the new features is Mark Zuckerberg himself.

There are three features that will be introduced with the next update: 1) it will finally be possible to hide it activity status in the app; 2) it will be possible leave group chats on tiptoe, without notifying the other members; 3) it is possible to block the screenshotmaking conversations truly private.

All three features are long awaited by users. In addition, two of these innovations had already been anticipated a few weeks ago by some leaks from the specialized site WABetaInfo.

Let’s go in order: today users can hide the blue tick, the tick that warns the interlocutor when his message is read; but it matters little, because there is so much to make any attempt at discretion in vain wording ‘online’ which appears when we open the application to reply to someone else.

The new update finally solves this paradox: users can hide the ‘online’ status. In this way, our contacts can no longer know when we use WhatsApp (and thus when we ignore their messages on purpose).

Then there is the question of groups: it will be possible leave group chats more discreet, without the other members getting one notification. To understand, the writing indicating that a certain contact or phone number has left the chat. Only group admins will be notified.

Finally, Zuckerberg has promised that WhatsApp will soon block the ability to take screenshots and record the screen when viewing “expired” media by default.
