The space logistics company D track has formalized the signing of a multiple launch and release contract with Astrocast. The latter is a leading Swiss company in nanosatellites for the Internet of Things. The agreement calls for D-Orbit to launch twenty Astrocast satellites aboard the ION Satellite Carrier. This is D-Orbit’s orbital transfer vehicle. An effective and versatile functional means of accurately releasing satellites. In addition, it is also useful for conducting technology demonstrations in orbit around the third-party payload.
THE satellites that will participate in Astrocast’s Internet of Things constellation, will be launched into space over three years through various missions. The first launch will not take place before November and will be aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. It will see the release of a group of 4 3U satellites in a solar synchronous orbit of 500-600 kilometers.
We are excited to partner with D-Orbit to expand the Astrocast constellation over the next three years. Our relationship started several years ago and we are pleased with the flexibility and different launch options that D-Orbit has given us. It is important that European space companies work together to find solutions that increase the competitiveness of the European space sector and we believe that the partnership with D-Orbit will help Astrocast achieve this. We look forward to launching on Falcon-9 and planning possible future missions on European missiles.
Fabien Jordan, CEO and co-founder of Astrocast
Subsequent batches of six 6U satellites and ten 6U satellites will be released in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Astrocast’s low-latency nanosatellite IoT network enables two-way communications. That is, between their devices and the general network of the company. With these launches, Astrocast continues to grow and invest in its network to provide businesses with high-quality SatIoT experiences. These investments will guarantee Astrocast in the future to provide other reliability and robustness to its customers.
