Just under a week after their launch, there are already some analytics on the progress of the pre-order campaign for the new iPhone 14. If the high-end models continue to do very well, the same can’t be said for the two ‘essential iPhones’.
Disappointing would be the performance of the new one iPhone 14 Plus, which would have registered an even lower interest than that of the ‘late’ iPhone 13 Mini. We remind you: in the past three years Apple has always presented four smartphones, but the novelty is that in 2022 the Mini line was replaced by the new iPhone 14 Plus, a smartphone with the same technical data sheet as the “basic” iPhone 14 , but with dimensions identical to those of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The iPhone 14 Plus was launched with the express purpose of overcoming the shortcomings of the Mini line, which has always had a marginal market share in recent years.
Apple does not release official information about the progress of preorders of the individual models and to have a more accurate photo, we will inevitably have to wait for the next quarter. Until then, we must rely on the estimates of analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo (who in turn only waiting times from any iPhone).
The verdict? The iPhone 14 Pro Max would do very well, to the point where the wait times are already getting pretty long. The iPhone 14 Pro, on the other hand, performs as expected. On the other hand, the iPhones 14 and 14 Plus were bad, both of which attracted modest interest.
For this reason, Kuo doesn’t rule out Apple’s decision to partially revise production quotas, prioritizing shipments of the two high-end models.
