Tomorrow we could look at SIM cards the way we look at tokens in phone booths today, and it’s Apple’s credit — or its fault, depending on your point of view. In the United States all new iPhones 14 they will be without a SIM slot. Users will have to use eSIMs.
Changing your phone plan is instant, you can do it from the comfort of your home with a simple tap on the phone. And so, goodbye to the old number to install a new number, without needing a pin to open the compartment, which is not there, and in fact a physical SIM card.
At the moment, this revolution does not concern European and Italian users, who, by purchasing an iPhone 14, will, as always, find accommodation for the SIM cards. But how long will we be spared? The market seems to be heading in that direction. After all, even in Italy it is already possible to buy one eSIM with almost every major mobile operator, all you need to do is have a compatible smartphone (the new iPhone 14, also in Italy, supports the Virtual SIM cards).
The eSIMs are also useful when traveling, especially in our case if you travel outside the European Union and therefore outside the area without roaming charges. Most compatible smartphones support the ability to charge multiple eSIMs at once, although in the case of the US iPhone 14 it is possible to use up to two eSIMs together (the others are temporarily disabled).
