“We fixed an issue that could affect certain types of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) connections. These connections may have had handshake failures.” Microsoft explains.

This happened for both Windows 11 and Windows 10. On affected devices, users will see SEC_E_ILLEGAL_MESSAGE errors in the application when there is a problem connecting to the server.

“For developers, affected connections may receive one or more entries in the same input buffer followed by a partial entry of less than 5 bytes” the company goes on to explain in its explanation.

You don’t have to do anything to get this update, just make sure Windows Update is enabled and update it for possible updates and it will install automatically.
