Xiaomi Closes Cloud Gallery and Recommends Google Photos Cloud Backups

Xiaomi has decided it’s time to shut down its cloud gallery. For those who don’t know what we’re talking about, this service allowed us to save and sync our photos to the Xiaomi cloud. Of course, to use this option, you had to have a smartphone from a Chinese company (Redmi also normal).

Now, a few days after announcing the closure of the service, Xiaomi has released a statement explaining that there is a new way to back up your photos and videos for users of Android devices running the operating system. MIUI.

Instead of using Google Photos and Cloud Gallery separately, Xiaomi offers integrated functionality for usersin which you can now backup your photos and videos from MIUI devices to Google Photos using the built-in Xiaomi Gallery app.

Besides backing up content from MIUI devices to Google Photos, Xiaomi cloud users (i.e. from both Xiaomi and Redmi) they will also have the ability to easily move their photos and videos to Google Photos.

When and how will the option work?

This function rollout to Xiaomi phones will begin on October 24, 2022 through an app update. Remember that Google Photos users have 15 GB of storage in their Google account.

Xiaomi explains that users who move their existing content from Mi Cloud to Google Photos can take advantage of Google One membership introductory trials during the migration they provide users additional storage 100 GB for 3 months.
