Of iOS 16, Apple wants to protect the privacy of its users even more. The new version of the operating system for iPhone will be presented at WWDC 2022, Apple’s event dedicated to developers, expected in June.
According to a Digiday report, iOS 16 could make it available to everyone Apple private relayan interesting feature introduced by Apple last year, but exclusive to iCloud+ service subscribers, who could try it exclusively.
Apple Private Realay behaves like a VPN, although it is actually a completely different technology. Basically, when activated, iPhones send their requests to websites using two different and separate relays, masking user data and making tracking more difficult.
In short, we’re probably not talking about an FBI or NSA-proof technology, but a security measure that complicates the lives of trackers and curious companies.
Private Relay may soon be enabled by default on all iPhones, in a move similar to the impact iOS 14’s anti-tracking measures had a few years ago. This means that the service will no longer be available exclusively to subscribers of iCloud +but can be used freely by all users.
The WWDC 2022 will be held in June, on that occasion Apple will officially showcase the new iOS 16 and reveal all its features to the public. All that’s left is to wait a few months to find out more.
