The automotive sector has developed like no other. Over the past decades, cars have (mostly) become more technically advanced to levels never seen before. There are more semiconductors in a car leaving the dealership now than there were in a computer two decades ago.
But that doesn’t mean everything is better. If you are buying electrica sports or an SUV, they can make five mistakes. Of these five characteristics, no one saves you, just go to the dealer and make sure they suffer from these obvious errors.
Otherwise, make no mistake, a modern car is much better than its counterpart from the last century. It is safer on the road, more efficient and greener (on average).

Five features no one wants in their sports, electric or compact cars
Fake exhaust pipes: This trend is followed by many car brands. As you can see in the photo you have of these lines, what companies like Mercedes do is paint pretty exhaust pipes on the rear bumper of a car.
To do this, they decorate moldings, put elegant and spectacular chrome sockets … and all this is just an aesthetic patch. The real exhaust pipe is under the car and hidden from the eyes of those who love a good exhaust pipe. Let’s stop this trend.
false air intakes: There’s another form of design nonsense to make cars look more aggressive than they really are. Air vents or air intakes indicate that there is a good engine under the hood or that the car has an ideal design that resists little wind.
But in fact, these air intakes are false: they are covered and do not let air through. This trend isn’t particularly new, as the 2006 Mini Cooper S R56 featured a fake hood vent that was filled with a piece of black plastic.
voice assistants: Speech recognition on our phones and at home can be great. Talking to Amazon Alexa is a handy way to set a timer while you cook, and Siri makes it safer to call a friend while driving.
But automakers’ voice recognition systems? They are very bad. They tend to glitch, they don’t recognize voice well… and brands don’t bother to release updates that improve the quality of the assistant, unlike Google or Amazon.
Touch control on the steering wheel: Not just a complaint about modern technology, but a real safety issue: there is no room for tactile touch controls in the car interior.
Volkswagen’s use of touch buttons on the steering wheel and dashboard in its electric ID.3 and eighth-generation Golf is perhaps the most notorious example of a technological failure. As a result, VW has committed to bringing back physical buttons for future models.
Screen without touch control: Aston Martin DBX is one of those cars in which touching the screen leaves nothing but a trace. Instead, you need to navigate the infotainment console using the previous generation Mercedes trackpad and scroll wheel.
This was typical of cars with screens in 2016/2017/2018, but thank god not now. The car infotainment system is all about finding a balance between touch controls and touch buttons. Today almost everyone automobile again, it has a touch screen.
