From academic year 2024-2025, all students are enrolled in theUniversity of Barcelonaregardless of the chosen faculty, they will be required to follow a course at ecological crisis. It is the first time that an institution of this size, which attracts more than 60,000 students annually, has imposed a training program on climate changes and theecological emergency.
All students specially supervised by End Fossila collective of environmentalists, protested and occupied the university’s spaces to ask for more sensitivity on the subject and to draw attention to the importance of giving up fossil energy sources.
For example, the institute yielded to the pressure of the activists and started the course at their request Ecosocial crisis, to raise awareness for environmental education. This course is also extended to the teaching staff who will be undergoing training on the ecological crisis over the next four years.
