Polestar, the Swedish electric car brand with close ties to Volvo, has announced a new update to its most famous car: Polar Star 2. The new version, available later this year, will feature significant improvements in terms of power and range thanks to new engines and a more powerful battery. It also includes a new grille design and, for the first time, a new rear-wheel drive model, among other innovations.

Polestar in particular has updated its Polestar 2 with some of the improvements we’ve already seen in the Polestar 3. new front grille designin fact, it’s pretty much the same as an electric SUV and also includes what the company calls Smartzonean active safety system consisting, in the case of the 2024 Polestar 2, of a front camera and a medium-range radar.

From Polestar 3, the manufacturer also inherited 20″ forged alloy wheelswhich are now shipped in the Performance Pack.

However, the most important change for this new Polestar 2 lies in the new motors and new batteries. These versions, christened as one engine now there is rear-wheel drive, to which is added new engine up to 299 horsepower and a torque of 740 Nm.

Sprint times have also improved. The standard and long-range versions can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 and 6.2 seconds, respectively. The twin-engine long-range variant, on the other hand, hits 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds thanks to the 421 hp engine. The Performance model, with a 476-horsepower engine, accelerates from 0 to 100 in 4.2 seconds.

In addition, long-range versions of the new Polestar 2 they now have an 82 kWh battery compared to 78 kWh of the previous generation, which provides a range of up to 635 km. The standard range versions remain at 69 kWh, but their transmission has been improved to be more efficient and in addition to offer longer charging times. . It reaches up to 205 kW in the batteries of the long-range models and up to 135 kW in the case of the standard range.

Finally, the new Polestar 2 now comes standard with some features that were only available as an add-on until now. Among them Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), wireless charging support, surround view camera or auto-dimming exterior mirrors.

Regarding price and orders, The new Polestar 2 2024 starts at €50,190. in the case of the standard version and goes up to 64,690 euros for the basic version of the Performance model. New versions are already available for order on the manufacturer’s website. They won’t ship, yes, until the third quarter of 2023.
