The Ministry of Health announced this Thursday morning (26) its full vaccination plan against Covid-19 for 2023. Pfizer’s bivalent vaccines will begin rolling out in February.

The groups most exposed to the risks of the disease and who have already received two doses of the vaccine will receive the bivalent vaccine, according to the dossier.

In short, bivalent immunizers are an update of the first distributed versions of the vaccine. They protect against the original strain of the virus as well as the omicron sub-variants.

First stage, starts on February 27will receive the bivalent vaccine: seniors aged 70 and over, residents of long-term care facilities (ILP), immunocompromised, indigenous, riparian, and quilombola communities.

Phase two will focus on people aged 60 to 69. In the third stage, it will be the turn of pregnant and postpartum women, while the fourth stage will focus on healthcare professionals. The goal of the Ministry of Health is to vaccinate at least 90% of the target population.

In addition to these groups, the folder added that it aims to intensify the disposable campaign for people over the age of 12. As for the child population, the Department of Health anticipates more doses of Pfizer baby, Pfizer pediatric and CoronaVac for February.
